The scheme is entering a new phase of its development. As part of building a stronger support infrastructure, a full time development officer has recently been appointment. She will help take the project to the next stage of the trustees’ planned future for the scheme.
As part of introducing the model of practice to another appropriate prison, early discussions have begun with two other prisons.
Led by the outreach worker and based on the needs of the prisoners, three category D prisons are working with the Crime Diversion Scheme to either help prisoners three month required community placement or help negotiate and develop resettlement placements.
Work continues to be undertaken on strengthening the measurable outcomes for both the inmates and young people.
